The Chief of Staff will be the Councilman’s top adviser and supervise two staff members.   • Manage day-to-day operations of the office: set priorities in partnership with the Councilman and team, lead weekly team meetings, maintain the Councilman’s calendar.
  • Oversee the office’s budget and human resources needs, attend monthly meetings with the City Council President’s Office, Director of Administration.
  • Support and encourage team members to accomplish their goals and continue their professional development.
  • Execute the Councilman’s strategy to implement smart, progressive policy; strengthen Baltimore; and bring resources to the Fourth District.
  • Supervise the Councilman’s policy work in City Hall, Annapolis, and Washington and review external messaging.
  • Organize and attend meetings with fellow Councilmembers, staff, advocates, and others to build coalitions and drive forward the work of the office.
  • Collaborate and forge relationships with community leaders, constituents, City government officials and agencies, and other stakeholders to deliver results and funding for the Fourth District.
  • Attend community association meetings and meet with community leaders.

Required Knowledges, Skills, And Abilities


  • Strong interest in politics and government, especially local government; familiarity with Baltimore and the Fourth District a plus
  • Supervisory and team building experience and skills
  • High level of written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Reliable, diligent, detail-oriented & organized

Minimum Education And Experience Requirements


Requirements - Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a GED certificate, with ideally four or more years of work experience.


Equivalencies - Equivalent combination of education and experience.
