The opportunity

Our Health and Wellbeing Development team has an exciting opportunity for a Social Policy and Gender Equity Officer to lead Council's gender equity work and contribute to policies and initiatives that promote municipal public health and wellbeing.

This is an ongoing full-time position within a small, professional and supportive team that works across health and wellbeing priorities including gender equity, alcohol and other drugs, physical activity, healthy eating and mental wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, implement and evaluate policies and projects to support a municipal approach to population health through a social determinant of health framework

Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of the Gender Equity 2030 Strategy and subsequent action plans

Support the organisation to meet all relevant obligations under the Gender Equality Act 2020 including workplace auditing, gender impacts assessments and workplace gender equality action planning

Lead and contribute to policy and strategy development, through investigation and analysis

Support and contribute to strong internal and external partnerships and networks to embed health and wellbeing and gender equity across a range of policies and programs

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

A relevant tertiary qualification and demonstrated knowledge of a broad range of health and social policy areas, including the drivers of systemic gender inequality and family violence and the role of local government

Experience in health or social policy development, implementation and evaluation

An ability to influence, work effectively and build partnerships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders
