We have an exciting opportunity for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director at Eversheds Sutherland (US) LLP. We are searching for someone who wants to be a valued contributor and member of a talented and dynamic team of lawyers, paralegals and staff.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Director is responsible for measuring and monitoring Firm diversity and inclusion, developing new programs, practices and training to foster an environment of inclusion while supporting internal groups, and developing relationships outside the Firm to further expand Diversity and Inclusion efforts. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion will be a champion for a culturally sensitive work environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Reviews current processes and edits accordingly to improve internal controls.
Leads the development, implementation and championing of inclusion initiatives in support of the Firm diversity mission and strategic plans.
Advises Firm leadership with respect to the Firm’s strategy on Diversity and Inclusion.
Works in tandem with Client Practice Development to ensure diversity and inclusion are reflected in client-facing and other practice group and business development activities.
Researches and advises on diversity and inclusion issues and creates programs, training and values around this.
Identifies external trends and recognizes best practices that will increase diversity within the workforce.
Maintains relationships with community businesses and groups to participate and build diversity awareness, develop relationships and learn from others.
Leads all diversity and inclusion training for the Firm and works closely with leadership to identify areas for improvement.
Provides feedback to Firm leadership on workplace, policies and procedures ensuring they are inclusive and that diversity and inclusion principles are embedded in the practices of business support.
Oversees the Firm Affinity groups.
Stays current on equality, diversity and inclusion programs and developments by maintaining contact with others in the field through professional associations and professional development efforts.
In collaboration with the Director of Human Resources, serves as an ombudsman for addressing and resolving equity, diversity and inclusion concerns when needed.
Directs various survey initiatives and monitors/reviews responses for submission.
Other job duties as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A Bachelor’s degree is required in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, or other field with relevant experience; JD required. Diversity and Inclusion Professionals Certificate, preferred.
Seven to ten years of experience in a law firm environment or professional services firm.
Prior experience as leader in Diversity and Inclusion.
Must have four years of supervisory experience with the ability to mentor and manage individuals to grow in their profession.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills are required.
Must have an awareness of global and cultural issues. Must be able to set goals, take responsibility for achieving them and establish credibility and rapport with Partners and leadership.
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of MS Office Suite with proficiency in Outlook. Must possess discretion in working with confidential information.
