Location: Denver, CO

Start Date: As soon as possible, part-time to start, full-time slated to begin October 1

Pay Range: $15,000 annually/part-time; increase to $30,000-/annually, full-time

Reports to: Slow Food Denver Executive Director and the Slow Food Denver Program Director

We are seeking a Communications, Programs & Outreach Coordinator who will support our priority of sharing the Slow Food story and coordinate our events, programs and activities that engage our community. This person will be skilled in written and verbal communications, demonstrate strong attention to detail and excel in time management. In addition, this role will be a prominent face of Slow Food to the community, so this person will need to enjoy working with people and present a warm and gracious demeanor. This is an exciting and dynamic role, and every day will be different. The ability to manage multiple tasks is essential.

We are a small team working at a fast pace to champion Slow values. We are looking for a team member who brings a positive outlook, is self-motivated, team-focused and believes in having fun while working hard.

The Communications, Programs & Outreach Coordinator reports directly to the Executive Director and the Program Director. Specifics include:


  • Work directly with director to craft a communications plan
  • Manage Slow Food Denver’s social media pages
  • Produce and distribute monthly e-newsletter
  • Promote volunteer opportunities and manage SignUp Genius as needed
  • Liaise with local media and online calendars to promote events, program and news
  • Update and maintain website, including Slow Food Denver events, blog posts, youth education classes, volunteer and intern opportunities
  • Manage Slow Food Denver’s email inbox
  • Maintain and organize internal documents, photos, etc. on Google drive
  • Support outreach for fundraising campaigns


  • Support office upkeep and maintenance
  • Support annual reporting needs
  • Manage donor database and send thank you letters

Program Support: 

Youth Education Programs

Assist the Program Director with various projects to support our youth education programs, including:

  • Help promote youth education classes (Seed-to-Plate, Lil’ Sprouts, Youth Farm Stands) through social media, newsletters, e-blasts, and flyers
  • Create registration forms and recipe books for schools
  • Format youth education forms 
  • Survey distribution/ evaluation
  • Pick up/deliver food for youth education classes. (This includes errands to local grocery stores, farmers markets, farm partners and schools. Must have reliable transportation and insurance)
  • Divide up large orders of food for youth education classes
  • Assist with seasonal youth programming schedule 
  • Support program evaluation data gathering and reporting
  • Assist with grant reporting
  • Coordinate volunteer outreach and engagement

Community Programs

Assist the Executive Director with community outreach and events:

  • Support detailed planning and logistics for specific events, programs and other community activities
  • Attend and provide onsite support as the key point person for specific events, programs and other community activities
  • Support program evaluation data gathering and reporting
  • Assist with grant reporting
  • Coordinate volunteer outreach and engagement

Desired Technology Experience

  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Experience with email management tools
  • Experience with WordPress 
  • Knowledge of event communications tools

Bonus Skills

  • Spanish fluency (not required)
