*Position Summary: *

The Health & Safety Supervisor develops, administers, and implements Opcol safety programs. The individual is responsible for the analysis of health and safety reports determining trends and making recommendations on preventative or corrective measure taking into account fiscal concerns, legislative requirements and best practices. The Health & Safety Supervisor will be required to work with the Human Resources Manager and Operations Manager to align health and safety issues with Opco short and long term strategic planning.

*Position Responsibilities: *

* Implement health and safety goals and strategies for the Opco ensuring that they meet all fiscal, strategic and legislative requirements
* Review policies and procedures ensuring that all health and safety measures are being taken
* Ensure that all governmental legislation is being followed at all times and in all facilities
* Review all health and safety reports analyzing compiled data to determine areas of improvement
* In coordination with Operations Management, assist in conducting inspections of the workplace ensuring safety standards are met and being enforced consistently
* Coordinate planning projects aimed at integrating health and safety activities into the company’s production efforts
* Manage non- compliance through ongoing consultation with Human Resources Manager and Operations Manager
* Manage investigation and reporting of health and safety incidents and hazard assessments
* Maintain a strong knowledge of legislative changes that are upcoming in order to pro-actively begin developing and implementing new procedures
* Monitor and review workplace accommodations and return to work programs
* Review job site safety compliance inspections including hazard analysis, safe work procedures and write reports and recommendations
* Keep up to date on machine and equipment changes ensuring that safety precautions are being taken into account
* Manage and review the analysis of accident and injury data, identifying the needs for new or modified safety programs
* Maintain a high level of knowledge on safety information to assure the best available methods and equipment are in place to minimize hazards in the workplace
* Advise on improvements in tracking and reporting procedures
* Provide training and coaching to supervisors, managers and other personnel on safety issues
* Assist in the development of a Divisional Safety Plan and ensure implementation
* Chair the Health & Safety meetings
* Create and train on tools to be used in all areas of the business
* Follow all American Institute of Bakeries documentation and legal requirements in the facilities including mock audits for monthly reporting

*Skills & Experiences: *

* Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
* 1-2 years previous safety experience preferably in a warehouse distribution environment
* Ability to communicate verbally and/ or through written communication with all levels of personnel within the Company.
* Ability to organize daily tasks and to work in a self- directed environment with minimal supervision.
* Experience in a supervisor role
* Experience working with a diverse group
* Experience using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for spreadsheet applications and presentations
* Ability to implement Safety plans and conduct

Pay: $60,000.00-$68,000.00 per year
