Position Summary

Reporting to the Director, Outreach & Product Services, the Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day delivery of APEGA’s EDI programs, including the successful completion of APEGA’s Women And Gender Equality (WAGE) grant project. This position will manage the execution of all activities, including the planning and hosting of consultations and meetings with stakeholders across Alberta, ensuring timely delivery of all key outcomes, and preparing final reports and documents for publication.

In addition, the role provides direct support to the Director, Outreach & Product Services by assisting in the management of APEGA’s overall equity, diversity, and inclusion initiatives, and additional projects within the Outreach & Product Services department.


  • Effective and successful completion of WAGE grant project and hosting the Women in APEGA Advisory Group meetings
  • Creating long- and short-term strategy plans for portfolio success by providing input into strategic direction of the programs and making recommendations on new programs or portfolios.
  • Leading the successful completion of grant projects, when applicable, including timeline development and management, staff and volunteer allocations, financial tracking, and budgeting, and ensuring successful completion of all outcomes.
  • Leading one EDI Coordinator through performance management and feedback, training, and development, planning and assigning tasks, monitoring progress and adherence to timelines, providing day to day guidance and support, and setting goals and objectives.
  • Hosting monthly Women in APEGA Advisory Group meetings, recruiting new group members, and effectively onboarding and offboarding volunteers. Includes recruiting and training volunteers in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager, attending group meetings, developing terms of references for the group, and summarizing group recommendations and action items or next steps.
  • o Summarizing Advisory Group recommendations and portfolio updates for Director, Outreach & Product Services.
  • Develop resources to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace.
  • Researching grant/award funding opportunities, providing recommendations to Director, Outreach & Product Services, and assisting in the development of proposals and/or applications.
  • Documenting, evaluating, and measuring portfolio success and reporting such metrics to Director, Outreach & Product Services. Includes modifying future program development and planning to account for insights generated through analyzing these metrics.
  • Research standards, best practices, reports, and scientific studies relevant to the initiatives
  • Create resources such as presentations, training, guidelines, etc. for stakeholders
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Engage APEGA members and dignitaries, when necessary
  • Maintain key contacts with various agencies, and community organizations with similar objectives.
  • Liaise with members, permit holders, APEGA staff, and the public to promote events and increase engagement in program initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the Communications Department around communication requirements including graphic design, messaging, or promotion of the portfolios and any print or electronic communications while ensuring appropriate media coverage.

  • Post-Secondary degree in Science, Engineering, Education, Sociology, or a related field
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in progressively more responsible supervisory roles.
  • Prior experience in a professional environment in developing, planning, and executing programs or events.
  • Budgetary experience is considered a strong asset.
  • This position may work remotely to start and will transition to the APEGA office when appropriate and within government guidelines. Employees are required to have a designated confidential workspace at home with quality internet.
